ACPA Awareness Ally Spotlight

By Alexis Giannattasio posted 16 days ago

Lizzet_Diaz.jpgThroughout the entire month of July, patients, families and professionals in the cleft and craniofacial community have been celebrating those born with facial differences and spreading awareness of the lifelong care journey experienced by many here in the United States. Awareness month looked a little bit different this year due to the ongoing pandemic, but that didn’t stop ACPA Awareness Allies from advancing the cause on social media.

ACPA Awareness Allies took advantage of their online presence this month to share a personal message about why they choose to spread awareness. Whether they are a patient themselves or have a loved one born with a facial difference, every individual used their voice to become an #ACPAAwarenessAlly.

Pictured on the right is Lizzet’s daughter. Lizzet said:

“I spread awareness because knowledge is power, and we may all be born different but we’re all beautiful. That smile melts my heart all the time.”

National Cleft and Craniofacial Awareness Month is coming to a close, but #ACPAAwarenessAllies will continue to spread the word about awareness all year long. Stay tuned to ACPA’s social media for the next #ACPAAwarenessAlly spotlight. To become an #ACPAAwarenessAlly, submit your photo and the reason why you spread awareness on the website.
